Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be fore lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth; and it was so.” Gen 1:14-15
This year is proving to be a year to keep watch in the heavens. So many things are going on up there, and God said they would be signs for us. Just days ago, an asteroid fell from the sky and gave Russia quite a shaking! What better time to embark on a study of the heavens? It is a fascinating topic and it clearly demonstrates the vastness and eternal, creative nature of God.
We began our study last month by creating a paper replica of the solar system and hanging it in the school room. This gave us the opportunity to talk about the size and position of each planet in relation to the sun and other stars that are much larger than the sun. So hard to comprehend all that God has created!
By gaining an understanding of the perfect environment God created for us to live in on Earth, we learn of His great Love for His creation. And using our divine imagination, we can read His prophetic words about the new heavens and the new earth with great expectation and excitement knowing it will be so much better than we imagine.
