Our school year began in September with a study on Ancient Greece. To complement this history study, we began using “English From the Roots Up” for vocabulary. Each week we learned one Greek root word and several english derivatives of that word. I posted all the words on our Word Wall, the roots in the center and the derivatives all around them. At the end of the week, we would review the words for the week and prior words. This was a little painful at the beginning, but once the kids realized “how to learn” these words, they started to enjoy it. They were amazed to see how many new words they were learning. This week we concluded our study and both kids “aced” their tests! A proud mama moment! Have I mentioned how much I enjoy homeschooling lately??
Since we’re in the season of Mother’s Day, this is probably a good time to reiterate the awesome privilege of Motherhood and how God has uniquely equipped us to be moms and teachers of our children. Their victories are our victories! Way to go, Hannah and Joshua, I’m so proud of you!
