It’s December 1st and so begins the Advent season. This is traditionally a time when we celebrate the first coming of our great King and Savior. He came into this world as a tiny baby wrapped in swaddling in a lowly manger, not what we would expect for the coming of a King. I love this story because it shows how the coming of Jesus was prophesied all throughout the Old Testament, but yet when He came, so few recognized Him. I will be posting a retelling of His first coming each day during this season. It is my prayer that you will look forward to His second coming and know that it is very possible that we have expectations about His 2nd coming that may cause us to miss Him, to miss what He is doing even now to prepare for His second coming. We are in the midst of His 2nd Advent even now. Study and enjoy the story of His birth, but ask and pray that the Lord reveals the truth about our soon coming King! No longer is He a baby in a manger nor a man nailed to the Cross. He is risen, He is alive, and He’s coming with a mighty roar to receive the reward of His suffering!
